Endowment Fund
The endowment fund exists to send those who are a part of First Baptist Durango to go out and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, both locally and globally.
HOW DOes THE ENDOWMENT FUND WORK?
The Endowment Fund is meant to be a ‘gift that keeps on giving.’ There are two funds, one for local missions and one for global missions. The principal amount of money in these funds is held in perpetuity.
80% of the interest and dividends are spent to further the gospel. The other 20% is reinvested in the Endowment Fund.
HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?
Go! I would like to tell others the good news of Jesus Christ.
The Endowment Team would like to give you the resources you need to accomplish your mission.

- Give you the encouragement and resources to step out and
do what God might be calling you to do.
The Endowment Fund provides resources to share the Gospel—whether it’s hosting a block party with your neighbors or traveling across the world. Let’s work together to spread the Gospel locally and globally!
Give to the Endowment Fund
Estate Planning: Leaving part of your estate to the endowment fund is a way to support the purpose of the fund while creating a lasting legacy. The easiest way for you to make an estate gift to First Baptist of Durango Endowment Fund is by a bequest in your will or trust. It needs to be designated to either the Local Endowment Fund or Global Endowment Fund. Read more about how here.
Tithe to the church: Please donate above your regular tithe to the church. Donations to the Funds are tax deductible.
How the Lord used the Endowment Fund in 2025!
Seminary Training - $1000
The funds provided to me through the Endowment Fund helped fund my traveling and lodging for one of the last classes I took during my final semester at Western Seminary. The name of this class was Prayer and Providence as it looked at the relationship between God’s sovereignty and prayer. This class has not solved all those questions, but they have helped me to understand the underlying issue to help walk alongside people who have those same questions, and then to point them to Jesus. – Robert
Rome Mission Trip (Multiple) - $5000
I’m glad we were able to talk with people there about Jesus and see the work being done there and it encouraged me that here at home we share the gospel with those around us even more so. – Audie
The street evangelizing with them was also spectacular! Throughout all of our experiences there I would say the number one thing God did in my life was to give me a greater love for His Church. – Ethan

On this mission trip, God sharpened my vision for the world‘s need for Jesus. Seeing the work that the Kannards are doing in Rome also gave me a vision for Durango. Both places seem hopeless and hostile to the gospel. – Kathryn
It was good to do the street evangelism with the church there, and caused me to realize that if I can share Jesus with people across the world in Rome, why am I not doing it more here at home? I appreciate the endowment funds that helped make this trip possible for Audie and I. It’s been an extremely blessed experience for both of us. – Heather
Halloween Outreach - $1000
This year, my prayer was that God would provide in every way—financially, physically, and practically, from candy to hot dogs. And He did. Yet beyond meeting those tangible needs, God gave something even greater: a deep joy in my salvation and a heart that delighted in sharing the love of Christ with every person who came.
